As Konami shows no interest in reviving Suikoden with a new installment, its creator set out to make a spiritual successor. Although the main game has yet to debut, it has already been confirmed to have a sequel.
That's right, it has just been announced that the budding Eiyuden Chronicle series will continue with a sequel, which is noteworthy considering that the project that spawned it, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, will hit the shelves next week.
The Eiyuden Chronicle Series Will Expand with a New Game
This was confirmed by the development studio itself, Rabbit & Bear Studios, through a Q&A session on Reddit.
"That's the goal we're working towards," said the studio in one of its responses when asked about the possibility of a sequel if Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is well received.
What's even more attention-grabbing is that after a fan inquired about the studio's future following the upcoming release of their first game, Rabbit & Bear responded with a resounding "absolutely," as their plan is to "move forward with a sequel."
Although Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will be Rabbit & Bear Studios's first major project, it's worth mentioning that this franchise has already debuted, precisely with the prequel Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, developed in collaboration with Natsume Atari.

This spiritual successor to Suikoden was born from the mind of Yoshitaka Murayama, the creator of the Konami franchise, who also founded Rabbit & Bear Studios, but it will have to continue without him, as the creative unfortunately passed away a couple of months ago.
"It's very sad that Murayama is no longer with us, but we've discussed many things with him," the studio expressed. "I hope we can continue Murayama's legacy and always want to treasure his last work. I hope many people will support this game."
In case you missed it: you'll be able to enjoy both Eiyuden Chronicle games on Xbox Game Pass.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will debut on April 23, 2024, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
