Elon Musk and X bid farewell to Twitter with new change to the platform

However, the magnate has not managed to eliminate all references to the old name

Since he bought Twitter, Elon Musk was preparing a series of changes for the platform, most of which turned out to be unpleasant for users. Among them was the name change, and today he can finally say it's complete.

Companies have a habit of changing their name, but people still keep calling them by their old names. We've seen this with Max (formerly HBO Max) and the company Meta (formerly Facebook), although people hardly adapt to the new name.

X finally said goodbye to Twitter

The same was planned by Musk for Twitter, which would not only stop being called that to adopt the new name "X," but would also lose its old mascot, the blue bird, to simply adorn itself with a minimalist "X".

These changes were planned since Musk was CEO of the company and before he left the position after controversial decisions. Although some embraced the use of X as the new name and logo of the platform, the vast majority still referred to it as "Twitter".

For example, it used to be possible to access the social platform using either the domain "Twitter" or the domain "X," but starting this weekend every URL with "Twitter" is automatically replaced by "X" when accessing the site.

"All core systems are now X.com," Musk announced through his Twit... X account, thus celebrating the complete transition and achieving his goal of erasing the last trace that indicates his platform was once Twitter.

Why is Twitter (X) in dark mode now?

It's important to mention that this change doesn't significantly affect the user but should be considered more of an aesthetic preference and a whim to standardize the new name of Musk's platform. However, there's one difference that might bother some: the platform now displays dark mode by default.

Something interesting to note is that, although the URL on the platform now always starts with "X," in Google searches it still appears as "Twitter.com," something that should change over time. Likewise, it should be noted that there are still remnants of Twitter, as in the domain used by X to store its images, "twimg" can still be seen, which alludes to its past; it's unknown if there are plans to change this as well.
