The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 was full of surprises, but few were as unexpected as the appearance of Game Freak, the studio best known for developing the Pokémon franchise. The developers took the stage to reveal their brand-new IP: Beast of Reincarnation.
You might recall that a couple of years ago, Game Freak announced a partnership with Take-Two Interactive to work on an entirely new franchise. That project has now been officially unveiled—and it’s aiming for a multiplatform release.
Coming to Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2026
Beast of Reincarnation will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, though no specific release date has been shared yet. However, Game Freak did confirm that the game will launch sometime in 2026, and it will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
What Is Beast of Reincarnation?
According to the official description, Beast of Reincarnation is a dark, post-apocalyptic action RPG set in a version of Japan corrupted by monstrous creatures. The story centers on Emma, a cursed outcast known as a “Blighted One,” and her loyal dog Koo as they traverse a deadly, ever-changing landscape.
“In post-apocalyptic Japan, a land ruined by corruption and overrun by monstrous beasts, humanity’s last hope may lie with Emma—a cursed outcast—and Koo, her loyal canine companion.
