If you don’t know what Industrial Light & Magic is, don’t worry, although you should be very grateful for its creations. The visual effects studio founded by George Lucas has brought epic moments to the big screen, such as the Death Star trench run, a morphing T-1000, and the Avengers saving New York from an invading alien army.
The stories this studio can tell are endless, and now Disney will ensure you get to know some of them on its streaming platform. Industrial Light & Magic has a special place in every geek’s heart, from its origins to the fantastic work done throughout the years. The Light & Magic docuseries is directed by Lawrence Kasdan and produced by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Justin Wilkes, Lawrence Kasdan, Kathleen Kennedy, and Michelle Rejwan. All six parts of Light & Magic start streaming on July 27 on Disney+.

According to Star Wars’ official website, the docuseries “follows the studio from its mid-‘70s inception for Star Wars to the studio’s digital innovations of today, and includes rare archival footage from the Star Wars saga, Indiana Jones series, Willow, Transformers, and The Abyss, among others. Light & Magic features George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, James Cameron, Kathleen Kennedy, Lynwen Brennan, ILM and VFX legends Dennis Muren, Joe Johnston, Rose Duignan, Phil Tippett, Richard Edlund, Jean Bolte, Doug Chiang, and many more.”
