Recently, Toys for Bob, the studio behind Skylanders, announced that they will separate from Activision to become independent. In the midst of this interesting situation, a bittersweet piece of news was revealed that took the community by surprise: Crash Team Rumble will no longer receive new content.
For those unfamiliar, Crash Team Rumble is a multiplayer spin-off that debuted in mid-June 2023. Here, 2 teams of 4 players compete to collect the most Wumpa fruits.
It is unknown how many copies this competitive title sold, but Twitch numbers seem to indicate that it was never particularly popular. Now, less than a year after its official release, it will cease to receive updates adding new substantial content. However, there is good news.
Crash Team Rumble to Stop Receiving New Content and Give Away Existing Content
Through a message displayed upon login, Toys for Bob announced to the community that the multiplayer game will receive its final update on Monday, March 4th. In the statement, it was confirmed that the servers will remain active, allowing players to participate in matches as usual.
Additionally, the company will release a free 500-level Battle Pass that will offer 104 new items, as well as all the content from the previous 3 seasons and rewards from available events.
Microtransactions in Crash Team Rumble will also disappear, and it will no longer be possible to spend real money in the in-game store. Players with Crash Coins, the in-game currency, can use them to buy level skips and obtain Battle Pass rewards more quickly.

In the announcement, Toys for Bob refrained from revealing the reasons behind this decision, but its easy to assume that their mission to become independent was a significant factor. Its also likely that the game doesnt have enough players to justify the development of new updates.
Crash Team Rumble is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
