Creative Assembly's Hyenas launches its first Alpha this week
By Alejandro Díaz de León onDevelopers promised it's not a battle royale

Creative Assembly's sci-fi, team-based shooter Hyenas will be playable for the first time tomorrow, Thursday, July 14. Anyone can sign up to participate in the Alpha test. All you have to do is go to the official website of the game and fill in your details.
This first test will be exclusively on PC and will be available only to players in North America, the UK, and Europe. The developer has assured those in other regions who play on multiple platforms that future tests of the title will come to them as well.
But what is the game about?
While Hyenas will be going into what is already a pretty saturated market, they have a strong team behind them. The same creative minds that worked on Halo Wars 2 and Alien: Isolation.
Players will work in teams of three, against four other trios per game, to claim as much Merch (pop culture loot) as possible, protected by security systems and hired thugs in giant spaceship malls called Plunderships.
Although the title shares a lot in common with games like Apex Legends, the studio swears is not a battle royale but a PVPVE experience. In the initial Alpha, we will meet characters Doctor Hotfix, The Pro, and Commander Wright, along with other team members who are still yet to be revealed.
Hyenas will be released on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, with the launch window currently set for some time in 2023.
