The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is in development, and its code name is Orion. The tumultuous history of the first installment, which ultimately redeemed itself, will not be repeated, at least according to CD Projekt. However, this time the project aims for something more ambitious, focusing on details that align with a better vision of the American dystopia.

The Sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 Will Reflect the American Dystopia in Greater Detail

During their participation in the answeRED podcast (via Wccftech) dedicated to updates from CD Projekt RED and their projects, creatives involved in the development of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel revealed that one of their goals is to portray a setting, story, and details more closely related to the futuristic vision of the United States depicted in the franchise. This is why the Polish company decided to develop the project at their Boston studio, to experience American cultural elements firsthand.

The sequel to Cyberpunk will focus on details of American culture and life

Regarding this, Dan Hernberg, executive producer of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, stated: "I think Cyberpunk is obviously a distinctly American story. It has a lot of punk energy, and it was written by an American, so it feels right to make it in the United States."

Meanwhile, Pawel Sasko, associate director, acknowledged that an important part of the genres experience is the immersion and futuristic details that reflect the dystopia according to cultural, social, and other elements. He even recalled a critique after the launch related to the design of the sewers and their position in the streets, as they were of a European type. In this regard, he noted: "basically, this shows you the differences, right? When you go to the United States, there are things like hydrants, where they are placed, and how they look. The streetlights, their positions, the trash containers, right? They are at the front of the house, right next to the street. In Poland, in Europe, you hardly see them anywhere. There are many nuances."

According to the information recently revealed by CDPR, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 will be the companys next big game after the new installment of The Witcher, and they are working to achieve it in the shortest possible time.
