The Cyberpunk 2077 universe is fantastical, so despite its flaws, the community is eager for more from the franchise. This is why CD Projekt RED decided to partner with Anonymous Content to develop a live-action adaptation of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.

According to CD Projekt RED, this live-action adaptation with real actors will be a completely original story set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Therefore, you shouldnt expect an adaptation of V and Johnny Silverhands story.

An important point is that its still in the early stages of development, to the extent that they are just starting to look for the screenwriter who will be responsible for writing it.

Another element to consider is that CD Projekt RED did not specify whether it will be a series or a movie and only referred to the adaptation as a "live-action project." We will stay tuned and inform you when we know more.

The Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation will tell a new story

The Cyberpunk 2077 live-action will have a lot of talent behind it

As mentioned before, the Cyberpunk 2077 live-action will be produced by CD Projekt RED in collaboration with Anonymous Content. Therefore, it is a production that will have a lot of talent behind it.

In case you dont know, Anonymous Content is an independent production company best known for its work on series like True Detective and Mr. Robot, or critically acclaimed films like The Revenant and Spotlight. In fact, their creative team includes individuals who collaborated on some of the mentioned projects as well as Westworld, True Blood, and the early seasons of Game of Thrones.

The creative team of the Cyberpunk 2077 live-action includes Garret Kemble, David Levine, Ryan Scharts, and Bard Dorros, who will serve as producers for Anonymous Content alongside Charlie Scully. Its worth mentioning that the creative team of Cyberpunk 2077 will also work closely on this project, so it is expected to stay true to their vision of the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 has already had successful adaptations

Its worth mentioning that this wont be the first successful adaptation of the Cyberpunk universe. CD Projekt RED worked closely with Netflix and Studio Trigger on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime that redeemed the games reputation. Additionally, they collaborated with author Rafal Kosik to release Cyberpunk 2077: NO_COINCIDENCE, a novel.

In fact, Cyberpunk 2077 itself is an adaptation. Remember that CD Projekt REDs video game is not set in an original universe but is based on Cyberpunk, a role-playing game created by Mike Pondsmith.
