In the crowded free-to-play battle royale market, Deathverse Let It Die has failed to succeed due to the major technical problems that plagued it since its launch in September and early October. Therefore, the developers have decided to shut down the servers in the coming months.

What we know so far

As of 4:00 a.m. next July 18, 2023, the game will shut down on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam). Instead, the sale of Death Metal, the premium currency, within the store will be discontinued as of Feb. 7, 2023. In any case, players will be able to continue spending the currency received for free or previously purchased until the servers are closed.

As for content, Season 2 will continue as planned, but there will not be a third season. However, some of the content scheduled for Season 3 will be released in the coming months as an update.

Contrary to what one might think, however, GungHo Online Entertainment's intention is not to shut down the game permanently. The lengthy statement posted on the official website hints at a willingness to shut down the servers to get back to work on the game and then relaunch it later.

In case you missed it: Goose Goose Duck becomes the third most popular title on Steam thanks to a BTS member.

The team appears unable to resolve the netcode issues fully, and the only way to fix them is to recreate much of the game from scratch.

It also cannot be ruled out that a possible relaunch might have an impact on the number of players, given the lack of public interest in the product, despite the remarkable success achieved by the original Let It Die, the brutal free-to-play souls-like that continues to be active years after its release.
