This week, the first impressions of Dragons Dogma 2 were released, and the general perception is that it is a strong contender for the 2024 Game of the Year (GOTY 2024). While final reviews are still pending, expectations for this Capcom game are through the roof. However, some players still have doubts about the performance, and a recent statement from the creative director confirms what was reported weeks ago for the console version.

Dragons Dogma 2 will not have a frame rate limit, but the average on consoles will be 30 frames per second

In an interview with Game Informer, Hideaki Itsuno, the director of Dragons Dogma 2, announced that the console version will not be limited in terms of frames per second. Still, the development team has worked to maintain it around 30 fps, which means the figure can increase a bit, but also decrease, so its best to expect the game to run most of the time at 30 frames per second on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Dragons Dogma 2 will also not have visual modes; forget about performance or graphics mode

On the other hand, Hideaki Itsuno revealed that Dragons Dogma 2 will not have visual modes, so dont expect options like performance mode or graphics mode since Capcom did not consider them. He also mentioned that there wont be much to modify in terms of visual options: "the game has an uncapped framerate. Our goal is to go around or above 30 frames per second. Thats also for consoles. There are some features you can turn on and off, but there are no various sets of options you can change at once. But yes, the framerate will have no limit on all consoles."

According to players experiences in similar cases, most agree that stability is better than variability, especially in games involving passive moments and dynamic combat sections. Finally, well have to wait for player reactions regarding the visual performance once Dragons Dogma 2 debuts, as previous Capcom games have achieved 60 fps, although they are titles that are not open-world or huge, like Resident Evil and Devil May Cry.
