Expectations for Dragons Dogma 2 are high, especially considering the franchises leap to the next level after what was shown in the first game. The quality of Capcoms team responsible for this role-playing, adventure, and fantasy title is unquestionable, but they may encounter an issue typical of the current generation of consoles, something that generally sparks controversy among players.

Dragons Dogma 2 will run at 30 fps on consoles, according to an insider

According to a report from PC_Focus on X, a Japanese insider who has leaked accurate information in recent months revealed that Dragons Dogma 2 will be limited to 30 frames per second on its console version, namely PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While this is a rumor, it is enough to check the games specifications on Steam, which indicate a frame rate of 30 frames per second for both minimum and recommended settings, although it is believed that there might be an option for 60 FPS on more powerful systems.

The issue in question would remain on consoles as it is not uncommon for studios in this generation to target 30 frames per second to ensure stability. At the same time, some creatives have expressed that achieving a frame rate of 60 frames per second on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is a challenging task that may or may not be considered within the original development plan, depending on the title and its concept.

So far, Capcom has managed to make recent installments of Resident Evil and Devil May Cry run at 60 frames per second and 4K HDR with Ray tracing turned off, and even Resident Evil Village achieves 45 fps and 1440p on Xbox Series S, so there are possibilities that the same could happen with Dragons Dogma. However, in these cases, it concerns games with defined and very limited spaces, unlike Hideaki Itsunos adventure and fantasy game, which will take place in vast environments with unexpected situations, huge enemies, and long-lasting battles.

Dragons Dogma 2 will debut on March 22 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In this link, you will find more information about Capcoms new work, including its unexpected influences from a title like GTA V.
