Recently, the American actor—also known for his role as Shaggy in the live-action and animated Scooby-Doo projects—appeared on GalaxyCon’s TikTok channel.
In the video, Lillard reacts to one of the final scenes in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, specifically the part where William Afton becomes Springtrap just before being defeated by the other animatronics at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.
The actor revealed that he was sick while filming that part, which explains why his voice sounds particularly different. Fans remember the line “I always come back,” which, thanks to Lillard’s confession, has become even more memorable and special.

“The crazy part of this is that I lost my voice because I was so sick. I’d attended a convention the weekend before, and during this whole sequence [in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie], I was really sick.”
Lillard also shared a humorous anecdote: many young fans believe the suit really hurt him, so they often ask if it was painful. He clarifies that the scene wasn’t real, reassuring them that he wasn’t harmed during filming.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 started filming in late October and is expected to hit theaters exclusively in December 2025.
