If youre eager to play it, we have news that will surely excite you—it will be available on PlayStation Plus from its release day. Plus, it already has a release date.
As announced by Square Enix, FOAMSTARS will debut on February 6 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The most striking part of this announcement is that the multiplayer project will be part of the upcoming months PlayStation Plus Essential games.
This means that everyone with an active PlayStation Plus membership will be able to get FOAMSTARS at no additional cost. Its worth mentioning that this promotion will only be available from February 6 to March 4, operating similarly to other monthly games on PlayStation Plus Essential.
As you can imagine, this move by Square Enix aims to replicate the success of other multiplayer projects like Rocket League or Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. Remember, both games debuted on PlayStation Plus, where they had the opportunity to showcase their value before becoming massive hits. However, nothing guarantees the same outcome for FOAMSTARS.
How much will FOAMSTARS cost?
Now, the fact that FOAMSTARS will debut on PlayStation Plus Essential doesnt mean its a free-to-play game. In fact, the multiplayer game will have a cost for those who dont claim it between February 6 and March 4.
According to the official announcement, FOAMSTARS will be sold for $29.99 USD on the PlayStation Store. The game will be available for purchase in Sonys digital game store on March 5. Therefore, its recommended to claim it as soon as possible to make it part of your PlayStation Plus library and access it as long as you maintain an active subscription.

Will FOAMSTARS have microtransactions?
We know what youre thinking: theres no way Square Enix is giving away their game just like that. After all, they made an investment to develop it, and they probably want to make money with this project. So, you might be concerned that FOAMSTARS will be full of microtransactions, but rest assured.
Lets start with the bad news: FOAMSTARS will indeed have microtransactions, but dont worry! They will only be for purchasing a Season Pass that provides exclusive cosmetic rewards and early access to new characters (similar to what Overwatch 2 does). The Season Pass will be offered for $5.99 USD. Its worth mentioning that the Season Pass will also offer a free track with rewards that anyone can unlock.
The good news is that the new characters will be free for all players once their early access period ends. Additionally, all game modes and maps introduced in updates will be available to all FOAMSTARS owners.
Speaking of updates, FOAMSTARS will receive a year of content updates. While theres a possibility that Square Enix may extend the period of free updates, for now, the plan is to receive new content seasons for the 12 months following its release.
