Another school year has just come to an end, and with it, many people have celebrated their graduation. One gamer had a unique idea: he sent an invitation to PlayStation, hoping to share a moment of personal significance with one of his favorite companies. Although he probably didn’t expect a reply, what he received in return went beyond anything he imagined.
Sharing his story on Reddit, user topslopper explained that while no one from PlayStation attended his graduation, the company did respond with a thoughtful gift that made the day memorable, despite a minor imperfection.
PlayStation surprised a fan with a graduation gift
The gamer sent his graduation invitation to PlayStation’s headquarters in San Mateo, California, without much expectation. Weeks later, to his surprise, a postcard arrived from the company, warmly congratulating him on his achievement.
Along with the card were two digital codes—one for a copy of God of War Ragnarök and another for bonus content in Fortnite. The timing couldn’t have been better, and topslopper was genuinely touched by the unexpected gift.

There was, however, a small twist: he already owned God of War Ragnarök and had previously redeemed the Fortnite content. Still, he made sure to publicly thank PlayStation for the thoughtful gesture, acknowledging the effort behind their response. He also mentioned that since he hadn’t shared his gamertag in the invitation, the company had no way of knowing what games or content he already had.
“I wasn’t really expecting anything,” he wrote. “It shows me that PlayStation/Sony actually cares about its consumers.”
The community reacted to the unexpected gift
The post quickly caught the attention of Reddit users. Some congratulated him on his graduation, while others asked for the address where he’d sent the invitation, presumably to try their luck with a similar idea.
Of course, the jokes followed soon after. Several users said they were tempted to start inviting PlayStation to other life events—weddings, birthdays, even baby showers—just to see what might happen.
