Xbox is fully committing to its multiplatform strategy, and PlayStation appears to be following suit. As both companies shift direction, it is becoming increasingly common to see titles from one platform appear on the other.
Microsoft has already taken major steps by bringing several major Xbox Game Studios titles to PS5. And according to a recent report, even more games are on the way. Two highly anticipated releases, Gears of War: E-Day and State of Decay 3, are rumored to be headed to PlayStation. But how likely is that to happen? Here is what we know so far.
Is Gears of War: E-Day Coming to PS5?
Gears of War: E-Day is one of the most anticipated upcoming Xbox titles. Developed by The Coalition, the game serves as a prequel to the original trilogy and explores the early years of Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago.

A PlayStation release seems increasingly likely. The franchise is already set to debut on Sony’s platform with Gears of War: Reloaded, which will mark the series’ first official launch on a PlayStation console and signals the possibility that more entries in the saga will follow.
According to a report from MP1st, Gears of War: E-Day is among the next Xbox titles planned for PS5. The outlet suggests that the game could launch simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. This would align with Xbox’s multiplatform approach and could help expand the series’ audience significantly.
What About State of Decay 3?
Undead Labs’ State of Decay 3 is another strong candidate for a multiplatform release. While the franchise has not yet appeared on PlayStation, Xbox’s recent moves indicate that could soon change.
Some industry watchers believe that State of Decay 2 might be ported first, while others expect the third installment to serve as the series’ PlayStation debut. Given its focus on cooperative gameplay and ongoing content updates, State of Decay 3 fits the profile of a live-service title that could benefit from a broader player base.

The report claims that the game is expected to launch simultaneously on Xbox consoles and PC, with a PlayStation version potentially in development. While there is still no gameplay footage or confirmed release window, the chances of a PS5 port continue to grow.
Is PlayStation Preparing to Bring Its Games to Xbox?
The multiplatform strategy may not be limited to Microsoft. Recent developments suggest that Sony is preparing to expand beyond its own hardware as well.
A new job listing from PlayStation Studios points to this shift. Sony is currently hiring a Senior Director of Multiplatform Strategy and Account Management. The role involves overseeing the commercial strategy for PlayStation Studios titles on platforms outside of PlayStation, including Xbox, Nintendo, PC, and mobile devices.
There are no official announcements yet, but the timing has definitely sparked speculation. Helldivers 2 is reportedly coming to Xbox, and LEGO Horizon Adventures is already available on Nintendo Switch. Taken together, these moves hint that Sony could be preparing to open its ecosystem much like Microsoft has.
