Ubisoft successfully defended itself from a hack, according to report

The X vx-underground account, which reports on all things cyberattack-related, revealed that Ubisoft was targeted by a hack last December 20. Their report reveals that a attacker penetrated the companys systems and went on the rampage for 48 hours.

The attacker allegedly accessed various internal systems, SharePoint, Confluence, Microsoft Teams and other work tools used by Ubisoft. It is said that his goal was to leak about 900 GB of data; however, the studios security teams successfully dealt with the emergency.

The source claims that cybersecurity experts managed to eject the attacker before it could obtain the data and steal it. It is not known if any information was extracted in the end, but it is a fact that he did not have enough time to take all the information he had in his sights.

According to the report, the attacker was looking for Rainbow Six Siege user data. Fortunately, Ubisoft acted quickly and averted a potential year-end disaster. As of this writing, the company has not been forthcoming with any word on the matter.
