Earlier this year, Microsoft shook things up by embracing a multiplatform approach. What started with just a few Xbox exclusives coming to other systems has grown steadily, and now more iconic titles are heading to PlayStation and Nintendo. One of the most surprising moves is Halo possibly arriving on Sony’s consoles, though not in the way most would expect.
For months, rumors have suggested the Master Chief’s saga might leave Xbox exclusivity behind and land on PS5 and Switch 2. No official announcements have been made, but it seems players on a popular PlayStation title will soon get a taste of the Halo universe.
That game is Helldivers 2, originally a PlayStation exclusive. With its Xbox Series X|S launch approaching, Arrowhead Game Studios released a teaser called Bring the Boom. The trailer mostly builds hype, but in its final moments, it reveals a soaked, desolate city on Super Earth, and as a Hellpod drops in, the unmistakable saxophone melody of Halo 3: ODST’s “Rain (Deference for Darkness)” plays in the background.

This hint clearly points to a crossover between Helldivers 2 and Halo. And while many expected this collaboration to be limited to the Xbox version, the trailer also appeared on PlayStation’s official channel, showing the same closing scene.
Although details remain scarce, fans expect armor, weapon skins, and vehicles inspired by Halo 3: ODST, similar to the earlier crossover with Killzone 2.
Xbox Franchises Expand Their Reach
Beyond this news, there is growing talk that Halo’s arrival on PlayStation could just be the beginning. Microsoft’s Gears of War is set to launch on PS5 later this month, making it easier to imagine more Xbox franchises crossing over.
Earlier this year, Jez Corden from Windows Central pointed to Halo: The Master Chief Collection as the next Xbox series likely to come to PS5. Adding to the speculation, The Verge’s Tom Warren revealed that Microsoft is working on a remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved, which may also release on PS5.
For now, nothing official confirms any Halo game will launch on Sony platforms. So for PlayStation fans, the Helldivers 2 crossover might be the only way to experience a bit of Halo, at least for now.
