Is Xbox developing a portable system? Phil Spencer excites fans

Some envisioned that the podcast about the future of the Xbox business would be a presentation with bittersweet news for the brands users. Instead, the company took the opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to both significant software and hardware plans, and hints suggest that Microsoft might be experimenting with a portable Xbox.

In the podcast, executive Sarah Bond mentioned that Xbox plans to share hardware details at the end of the year, and comments from the brands head, Phil Spencer, seem to indicate that it could well be a project in the portable systems sector.

"I am very proud of the work the hardware team is doing, not only for this year but also for the future. [We are] really thinking about creating hardware that sells to players because of the unique aspects of the hardware. Unleashing the creative capacity of our hardware team is what excites me a lot," Spencer expressed to The Verge.

Phil Spencer is a fan of portables

According to the report, Microsoft mentioned that it recognizes there are many opportunities in different types of devices and stated that it would share more details about its future hardware plans when ready.

Furthermore, what reinforces the idea that Xbox might be developing a portable is that Spencer has shown interest in posts about portables on social media.

"I am a big fan of portables," Spencer said, making it clear that there is nothing to announce at the moment, discussing opportunities and areas for improvement when working on a portable. "One of the weak points of the experience on an ROG or Lenovo [Legion Go] is Windows. How Windows works with controller input only at that DPI, on a smaller 8 or 7-inch screen. Thats a real design point: our platform team is working with Windows to ensure the experience is even better."

Will Xbox enter the portable hardware market?
