Square Enix is one of the companies that has supported Sony with exclusive releases for PlayStation, whether temporary or permanent. One of the years most successful RPGs, Final Fantasy XVI, could only be played on consoles from this brand until now, but its a fact that PC users will be able to enjoy it.
Naoki Yoshida, the projects lead, confirmed this in a new video in which he talks about the games future and reveals that the development of the PC versions port is already underway.
Final Fantasy XVI will no longer be an exclusive for PlayStation 5
Given Final Fantasy XVIs exclusivity with PlayStation, Square Enix has often been somewhat ambiguous about the release dates and platforms on which the game would be available, to the extent of causing confusion among fans. However, the development team has slowly been addressing this issue, and today their leader finally confirmed that the ports development is official and has already begun.
As for the release date, it is unknown when this version will be ready and on which platform (Steam, Epic Games, etc.), but it is expected to be available at least 6 months later, according to a previous estimate by Yoshida.
However, in the new video, the creative director hinted that he hopes to provide more information on this matter before 2024. We will keep you informed.
