Konami confirms Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection will look worse on Switch

The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection will be a perfect opportunity for young players to experience one of the best series in the world of video games. While the collection will be available on a variety of platforms, Konami has already confirmed that the one running the game the least smoothly will be the Nintendo Switch.

Konami recently shared more details about this compilation and revealed that on all platforms except one, it will be possible to play it at a resolution of 1080p and a frame rate of 60 fps, which can be considered standard, especially considering that these are longstanding games that shouldnt be too demanding.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection will have worse performance on Nintendo Switch

The exception is the Nintendo Switch, on which the collection will reach 1080p resolution, but at the cost of the frame rate, which is estimated to be around 30 fps.

This will only be possible if the player has the console docked; if they decide to play in handheld mode, the resolution will drop to 720p, barely clinging to the HD definition. In fact, the Nintendo Switch version will look worse than the versions on the 2013 consoles, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

As if that werent enough, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 wont offer content in 4K resolution, even though some platforms can display content in this resolution, precisely PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

All of this will be included in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1

Konami will offer the games just as they debuted decades ago. While this is positive in certain aspects, in others its not, as this means its essentially an emulation without enhancements of the original editions, and no support for widescreen displays or visual improvements in image scaling has been added, particularly in the original Metal Gear Solid, as reported by Video Games Chronicle.

Lets remember that this collection will include other games such as Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater according to the versions from the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (which didnt include the original Metal Gear Solid), so they should look better than the original editions.
