The LEGO version of Horizon will take several liberties—after all, it’s a spin-off of the successful PlayStation franchise. However, this doesnt mean there won’t be nods to the main entries. The friendship between Aloy and the characters she bonds with will remain in the new title, but there is a notable absence that has unfortunately led to changes in the original content.
What will happen to Sylens voice in LEGO Horizon Adventures after Lance Reddicks death?
Just days before the release of LEGO Horizon Adventures, Guerrilla Games announced (via IGN) that there will be a change in one of the voice performances. Sylens will be voiced by a new actor due to the passing of Lance Reddick in March, who originally voiced the character in Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, as well as other roles like Commander Zavala in Destiny.
PlayStations studio mentioned that they will soon reveal the actor who will give voice to Sylens in the new game, but confirmed that his performance is already in LEGO Horizon Adventures. "Lance Reddick tragically passed away in 2023, and we deeply miss him at Guerrilla and within our community. He beautifully portrayed the pivotal character of Sylens in Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. Sylens appears in LEGO Horizon Adventures, and we will introduce the new actor at a later date. Hearing the voices of other original actors, such as Ashly Burch as Aloy, JB Blanc as Rost, John MacMillan as Varl, and John Hopkins as Erend, has truly brought back the camaraderie that defines the original game."
Lance Reddick passed away on March 17, 2023, suddenly at the age of 60. An autopsy revealed arterial disease and heart issues as the cause, ruling out any other factors. While Reddick had experience in film and television, it was in the world of video games that some of the most heartfelt tributes were made. The Destiny community gathered around Commander Zavalas location in the game to hold a vigil and say their goodbyes.
As for the Horizon community, Guerrilla Games decided to honor Lance Reddick by creating a monument bearing his name in the Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores expansion, which players can visit.
LEGO Horizon Adventures will debut on November 14 on PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
