Back in August, it was confirmed that EVO Japan will return in 2023; specifically from March 31 to April 2 at the Tokyo Big Sight in Odaiba, one of the most emblematic convention centres in Tokyo, Japan.

The first four games were also confirmed on the same day: Guilty Gear: Strive, The King of Fighters XV, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition and TEKKEN 7. Of course, we were waiting for the last titles that will be joining this incredible event; fortunately, they were revealed today.

Through its official Twitter account, the EVO Japan 2023 team revealed the last games joining the main game lineup.

Prepare yourself to see the greatest players of Granblue Fantasy: Versus, MELTY BLOOD: TYPE LUMINA and Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown.

In case you are not familiar with any of them, don’t worry here are the details:

To begin with Granblue Fantasy: Versus, this fighting game was developed by Arc System Works for the PlayStation 4 and PC, and is based on the role-playing video game Granblue Fantasy, it hit the shelves in 2020 and has enjoyed of fairly good popularity mainly in Japan. Actually, it was nominated for Best Fighting at The Game Awards 2020.

On the other hand, we have MELTY BLOOD: TYPE LUMINA, the fifth instalment of the Tsukihime fighting game series Melty Blood, developed by French-Bread, Type-Moon and Aniplex. This is the “youngest” game on the list as it was released worldwide in September 2021, for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Last but not least, Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, the latest instalment in Sega's Virtua Fighter series, this one was released worldwide exclusively for PlayStation 4 on June 2021, and in Japanese arcades in the same month.
