Even though Grand Theft Auto VI has taken the spotlight since its official reveal, GTA V remains incredibly popular, with a massive, active player base filled with modders that continue to push its limits with their impressive creations. Among the most stunning is NaturalVision, a visual overhaul that makes the game look nearly photorealistic.

Its creator, known as Razed, recently spoke about the significant time and effort invested in this project. He revealed he has logged over 10,000 hours working on it through Steam, primarily for development and testing purposes.

A photorealistic mod with thousands of hours of work behind

NaturalVision is a graphic mod for GTA V that visually transforms the game. It reworks lighting, weather systems, environmental color palettes, textures, and other elements to bring the game up to next-gen visual standards.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Razed spoke about the level of commitment required to pull it off, noting that both he and several other collaborators made countless sacrifices and dedicated a huge portion of their free time to the project.

“According to Steam, I have around 10,000 hours logged in GTA V. I’d estimate that around 80% of that time was dedicated to developing and testing this project over the years. Other team members have also contributed hundreds, if not thousands, of hours towards developing the mod.”

Although the project demanded a lot, Razed believes the effort was worthwhile and takes great pride in what he and his team have accomplished—pushing the game’s visuals to a whole new level, perhaps even surpassing what Rockstar achieved over the past 12 years.

“I truly believe it’s all been worth it, though I admit there was a time when I had doubts. In the beginning, people around me told me that modding GTA V was a waste of time. It wasn’t easy to ignore that but I kept going, driven by resilience and a deep passion to create something great.”

GTA VI delayed until May 2026

Originally slated for a Fall 2025 release, Grand Theft Auto VI has now been officially delayed. According to reports, even within Rockstar, few believed that timeline was realistic. Still, the announcement impacted parent company Take-Two’s stock and may have disrupted internal schedules across the gaming industry.

The new release date is May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has yet to confirm when the game will be available on PC.

“We are very sorry that this is later than you expected,” read a company statement. “With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
