According to Insider Gaming, the next mainline Ghost Recon, codenamed Ovr, is on track for a fall 2026 release, with internal alpha testing expected to start before the year is out.
Earlier reports from the same outlet, back in March 2024, hinted at what might be the biggest shake-up the series has seen in years: instead of sticking with the familiar third-person view used in Wildlands and Breakpoint, the next game is said to shift entirely to a first-person perspective. The core tactical style will stay intact but with more of a focus on military simulation elements.

Ubisoft is currently juggling several projects, including the long-delayed Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake, which the studio recently confirmed is “deep” in development after multiple reworks.
The last time Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon made headlines was with Breakpoint, which landed in 2019 but never quite found its footing. The company’s last-ditch push to inject NFTs into the game only added fuel to the fire, and less than three years after its launch, Ubisoft pulled the plug on new updates and quietly shelved Frontline, another entry that never made it out of the gate.

No official reveal is on the calendar yet, but the word is Ubisoft plans to keep things under wraps until next year, when it’s expected to come back swinging with a major Ubisoft Forward showcase.
Insider Gaming claims it has already seen early Ovr footage and describes it as sitting somewhere between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the more tactical Ready or Not.
