In hindsight, 2022 was a great year for video games. During that period, fans enjoyed highly anticipated releases such as ELDEN RING, God of War Ragnarök, Pentiment, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Unfortunately, not all experiences lived up to the communitys expectations.
One of the most anticipated releases of that year was undoubtedly The Callisto Protocol, a space horror title created by Glen Schofield, the mind behind the Dead Space franchise. Unfortunately, it fell short and received very negative reviews from both the press and fans.
Ultimately, the horror game developed by Striking Distance Studios had poor commercial performance. In addition to KRAFTONs stock falling, the executives had to adjust sales expectations. In September 2023, Glen Schofield, the studios founder, left the company.
It seemed that everything was said for this AAA title that failed on a grand scale, but it recently experienced a significant surge in popularity on Steam. The reason? A discount that is hard to ignore.

The Callisto Protocol is now less than $18 USD on Steam
At this moment, The Callisto Protocol has an enticing 70% discount on Steam, meaning you can get it for only $17.99 USD, or $360 MXN. This special limited-time offer will end on February 5th, so you have plenty of days to take advantage of it.
Moreover, the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes the Final Transmission expansion and more downloadable content, is also very affordable thanks to a 75% discount on the Valve platform. Specifically, you can buy it for $364.75 MXN.

Certainly, many people took advantage of this limited-time promotion. According to reports, The Callisto Protocol experienced a surge in popularity in the last 24 hours and increased its user base by over 200%. At this moment, there are 1171 people connected; while it may seem little, the monthly average is 240 concurrent users.
Although it seems challenging for this project to make a comeback, there appears to be a community interested in it. We should remember that it received criticism upon its original release because its PC version had very poor performance and numerous other technical issues that hindered the experience. Despite developers working on patches, it was already too late.

But tell us, do you think this horror game deserves a second chance? Let us know in the comments.
