After months of speculation and rumors, it’s finally official: Persona 4 is getting a full remake. Titled Persona 4 Revival, this reimagining of one of ATLUS’ most beloved JRPGs was revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and confirmed to launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
A Modern Remake of a JRPG Classic
Originally released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2, Persona 4 is widely regarded as a genre-defining JRPG. Its blend of life simulation, dungeon crawling, and emotional storytelling set a new standard for the series—and the genre. The game also received a critically acclaimed expanded version, Persona 4 Golden, for the PlayStation Vita.
With Persona 4 Revival, ATLUS is modernizing the experience for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While combat footage hasn’t been shown yet, fans expect a gameplay overhaul more in line with Persona 5’s refined systems. The remake will feature updated visuals, fully redone environments, and new animations, as seen in its first official trailer.
Xbox Game Pass Perks
One of the biggest surprises? Persona 4 Revival will be available at no additional cost for subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on launch day, continuing ATLUS’s strong partnership with Xbox.
