Starfield, Bethesdas new and ambitious project, is getting ready for its official release in early September. The wait is nearly over, but its clear that many players are already eager to dive in. Certainly, these individuals might be envious to learn that Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, began playing this title since last year.
A few weeks ago, we mentioned that the executive was supposedly playing Starfield on his Xbox. While this is unsurprising due to his position in the company, many fans expressed their amazement and jealousy on social media. Of course, at that time, it was difficult to determine when he started playing.
Now, it was Phil Spencer himself who shed light on the matter and revealed the amount of hours he has already invested in Bethesdas ambitious RPG. And yes, he has played for a significant amount of time.
Phil Spencer has played 200 hours of Starfield
During an interview with IGN at gamescom 2023, the Xbox head disclosed that hes currently on his 15th playthrough. While this doesnt mean he has reached the final credits that many times, he believes he has already clocked a total of 200 hours since he started in November.
Due to the changes the save format underwent during development, Spencer had to start new playthroughs. He explains that in his most recent round, he played as a space pirate and expressed his excitement. He also mentioned that Starfield is more reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion than The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.

Although its difficult to interpret what the executive means by that last comment, we do know that Starfield makes a reference to one of the most infamous classic memes from Oblivion.
