PlayStation 5 Leads Sales in Germany
According to the details, console sales were exceptionally high in the first half of 2023, experiencing a growth of 90% compared to the first 6 months of 2022.
The console that contributed the most to this surge was the PlayStation 5, which sold three times as many units compared to the previous year. Even PlayStation 4 sales increased slightly, as well as those of the Nintendo Switch. The console that broke this trend was the Xbox Series X|S, which, conversely and curiously, experienced lower sales compared to the previous year.
PC Gaming Sales Decline; Physical Format Sales Improve
The PC gaming landscape was different, as the report mentions that gaming laptop sales dropped by 13% and desktop PC sales by 20%.
On the other hand, theres good news for physical format games, as their sales improved by 2%. The preferred titles were The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Hogwarts Legacy, and FIFA 23. The popularity of these games also boosted sales of products from their franchises by 81%, 33%, and 27%, respectively.
