Moments ago, the renowned journalist from Bloomberg, Jason Schreier, shared last-minute information as Sony officially announced the appointment of 2 managing directors for PlayStation. They are Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino, who will take the reins of Sony Interactive Entertainment as of June 1st, marking the beginning of a new management era for Sonys gaming brand after Jim Ryans tenure ended. Both will report to Hiroki Totoki, president of Sony, who became the interim head of PlayStation in the months following the departure of the British executive.

Who are the new heads of PlayStation?



PlayStation will have 2 new leaders as of June 1st, and in addition to the appointment, there are changes in the structure of the companys video game business. According to a report from Gamesindustry.biz, Hermen Hulst will be the managing director of the Studio Business Group, a division that will oversee all PlayStation Studios teams and will also be in charge of Sonys franchise projects in other media such as film and TV.

Meanwhile, Hideaki Nishino will be the managing director of the Platform Business Group, a division related to consoles, PlayStation Network, and everything related to the technological aspect, as well as relationships with third parties in that sector.

Regarding this, Hermen Hulst stated: "I am delighted to lead the studio business group and continue building on our success with PlayStation 5 as we prepare for the future. The video game industry is one of the largest entertainment industries in the world and has been built on the union of content and technology, and I look forward to continuing to expand the boundaries of gaming and entertainment."
