After a long period of rumors, Sony finally unveiled the PlayStation 5 Pro, considered the most powerful console the Japanese company has ever created. The hype ignited immediately, though the price somewhat calmed the excitement, as $699.99 USD is a significant amount to consider in these times, even in first-world markets where, theoretically, its easier to allocate resources to entertainment. For one reason or another, this has impacted pre-orders, as its reported that they have not sold out in countries like the United States and the United Kingdom.

The PS5 Pro has not sold out in the US and UK, markets that favor Sony

While the PS5 Pro is considered a niche console, much like the PS4 Pro, and thus wont sell tens of millions of units, it has emerged that in recent days, with the start of pre-orders on PlayStation Direct, these have not sold out. According to information from The Verge journalist Tom Warren, PS5 Pro pre-orders have not sold out in the US and UK. From his perspective, this is due to the consoles price of $699.99 USD, as its a price point not everyone is willing to spend on this type of system during the holiday season.

Inevitably, users on social media have compared the expectations for the PS5 Pro to those for the PS5 before its debut in November 2020. At that time, Sonys console followed the overwhelming success of the PS4 but faced the challenges of the pandemic and an atypical increase in demand for video games due to forced lockdowns.

This led to speculation, hoarding, and resale, a phenomenon that lasted a couple of years, making it nearly impossible to get a PS5 in some markets. Eventually, the situation normalized, manufacturing, distribution, and sales chains stabilized, and the PS5 was no longer in short supply.

In the case of the PS5 Pro, there are several factors to consider. The consoles price of $699.99 USD is one of them, but it cant be overlooked that Sonys system has fewer standout titles that would justify such a high expenditure, as this generation has been notably lacking in AAA releases designed exclusively for current systems.

Given the above, its estimated that there will be PS5 Pro units readily available during this years holiday season.
