Rumors about Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to Switch 2 have resurfaced thanks to NateTheHate, an insider with a solid track record in the gaming industry. According to him, Rockstar Games is developing a version of the acclaimed open-world title for Nintendo’s next-generation system.

The insider clarified that while the project is reportedly in development, he doesn’t know when it will be officially announced. His comments follow months of speculation about a potential “enhanced version” of the game, which Rockstar Games has yet to confirm.

Rockstar remains silent
Since its release in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 has been praised as one of Rockstar’s most impressive productions, both technically and narratively. Despite that, the company has shown little interest in updating the title for current-gen consoles, let alone bringing it to Nintendo hardware.

In 2023, Rockstar released a port of the original Red Dead Redemption for Nintendo Switch — a move many saw as a test case. If the new rumors prove true, Switch 2 would become the first Nintendo system to offer the full open-world experience of Arthur Morgan’s journey.

A strategic move
Expanding Red Dead Redemption 2 to more platforms makes business sense. A re-release could help maintain attention on Rockstar’s catalog ahead of the long-awaited launch of Grand Theft Auto VI.

For now, fans can only wait for an official confirmation, but NateTheHate’s persistence has reignited excitement among fans of the digital Wild West.
