Return to Monkey Island was missing from the whole Summer Game Fest announcements, and while many fans were losing hope, yesterday’s Nintendo Direct gave us the long-awaited gameplay footage that many fans were eager to see.

Not everything is happiness, but the crew is already used to it…

Even though we were happy to have some news, others were extremely mad… Why? Return to Monkey Island is using a brand new art style that disappoints the longtime fans of the game, who would have preferred a more overtly retro look. Said art style is the work of Rex Crowle, who previously worked on games like Psychonauts 2 and Knights and Bikes, while music is coming from original Monkey Island 2 composers Michael Land, Peter McConnell, and Clint Bajakian.

There is a lot to see!

Hey, that is not all… The official website has updated its home page with very silly yet fun interactive features that will give you some hints of what is coming up.

Sadly there is not a confirmed launch date or pricing yet, however, is almost a fact that Return to Monkey Island will arrive this year on Nintendo Switch and PC.
