Nintendo Allegedly Showcased the Successor to the Switch at gamescom 2023
According to information from Jez Corden, a journalist at Windows Central, rumors have surfaced indicating a secret meeting organized by Nintendo at gamescom 2023. As reported, the Japanese company allegedly showcased (or at least presented information about) the new console that will succeed the Switch to developers and select members of the press. As you can imagine, this meeting was held behind closed doors with strict security measures and high confidentiality.
Switch Continues to Be Successful, but a New Console is Expected
However, as Jez Corden points out, if Nintendo has taken this step during gamescom 2023, it would only suggest that the season of leaks and the subsequent official reveal of Nintendos next console are imminent.
While the Switch maintains strong sales and has a solid lineup of upcoming games, time doesnt stand still. Its believed that Nintendo is on the brink of revealing its new console. After all, it cant afford to fall behind in terms of technological advancement, especially considering that Valve already has the Steam Deck on the market and other companies have ventured into developing and selling portable gaming hardware, a trend influenced by the success of the Switch.
During the review process of Microsofts acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Bobby Kotick, the CEO of the Call of Duty company, revealed that Nintendos new console will have the same power as a PS4 or Xbox One. So, the Japanese companys next step will likely be in that direction. The only remaining question is what will happen with its successful hybrid concept.
