Silent Hill Surpasses 11.5 Million Units Sold Worldwide
In its latest financial report, Konami shared updated sales figures for its top video game franchises (via Genki on X). The data reveals that Silent Hill has now sold over 11.5 million units globally—covering the original 1999 release through to the latest entry launched last year.
This milestone marks a strong comeback for the iconic psychological horror IP and confirms that the Silent Hill 2 Remake by Bloober Team performed well in the market.
A Major Leap Thanks to the Remake
Before the release of the Silent Hill 2 Remake, total sales for the franchise were estimated at around 9 million units. The updated figures suggest that the remake has sold at least 2 million copies, possibly making it the best-selling title in the series’ 26-year history.
This is a remarkable achievement, especially considering the franchise had been dormant for years and struggled to find direction after Silent Hill: Downpour and the cancellation of Silent Hills.
What’s Next for the Silent Hill Franchise?
Konami isn’t slowing down. The next mainline entry, Silent Hill f, is currently in development and will mark the series’ first title set in Japan—departing from the traditional American town setting that fans know.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Christophe Gans is working on Return to Silent Hill, a movie adaptation of Silent Hill 2 that promises to stay faithful to the original game’s story and tone.

Rumors continue to swirl about more Silent Hill projects in the pipeline.
