However, the recent revelation of the release date, details, and editions has angered players as some content will only be available for those who pay for the Gold or Ultimate versions.
Ubisoft criticized for making Jabba the Hutt mission exclusive in Star Wars Outlaws for those who pay more
After Ubisoft shared new information about Star Wars Outlaws, players discovered that theres a mission involving Jabba the Hutt, but it wont be available to those who buy the standard $70 USD edition. According to the details of the 3 editions of Star Wars Outlaws, the "Jabba’s Gambit" mission, touted by Ubisoft as day-one special content, is available for players with the Gold or Ultimate version, with the former costing $110 USD and the latter $130 USD.
In this case, its Ubisofts strategy to monetize Star Wars Outlaws in various ways, one of them being a season pass that will grant access to special content and the Jabba the Hutt mission. Ubisoft anticipates 2 story expansions as part of this pass.
However, being a single-player campaign-focused game, the communitys response hasnt been positive as they see it as the French companys new attempt to over-monetize a game at any cost. In this regard, players question why a single-player title incorporates elements from multiplayer and live-service games, leaving it in a middle ground that, so far, hasnt favored any title that has attempted it.
Moreover, the exclusivity of the Jabba the Hutt mission in Star Wars Outlaws adds to other controversies, such as early access available in the more expensive versions but only three days before release, completely distorting a concept and process that was formed within the PC developer and player community.
