If you thought that the news of new games had ended because there were a few days left before the end of the year, we have to tell you that this is not the case, since today a new video game has just been released on Nintendo Switch unexpectedly.
We're talking about Sports Story, a game that combines the excitement of sports with the strategy of role-playing games to deliver a unique mix of genres. A title whose development has been known for a long time but whose release date was unknown.

Why so much hype for this game?
As told you before, Sports Story is a sports RPG developed by Sidebar Games, the studio that made Golf Story.
In case of the name Golf Story is unfamiliar to you, we tell you that it was released in 2017 and immediately became one of the most acclaimed exclusive indie games for Nintendo Switch, being nominated for multiple awards, including "Best Debut Indie Game" at The Game Awards 2017. In 2018, it won the "Game, Original Sports" category at the National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers Awards.
We could say it's a "hidden gem" of the hybrid console. For this reason, for those who played Golf Story, the expectation for Sports Story, a spiritual sequel, has been so high.
What is Sports Story?
Background aside, here is an overview of this game as it appears on the official Nintendo website:
"Sports Story is a sports RPG like no other. Featuring a mix of sports and sporting activities wrapped up in one big story. With a multitude of characters to meet, you will make plenty of friends and enemies along the way. Sports Story isn’t just about sports, it’s an all-out sporting adventure."
Moving on to the main features, the developer's highlight that we will have 8 golf courses, a tennis tour, and we can start our soccer team. We can improve our sports ranking to unlock more activities, including BMX, mini-golf, cricket, volleyball, fishing, and more.
Likewise, during the adventure, we'll travel by train, helicopter, and houseboat as we explore dungeons, abandoned ruins, and the mysterious Wildlands.
Plus, you'll have daily attractions, specialty sports stores, and mini-games.

In case you prefer to have your game collection in physical format, don't lose hope. At the time, Golf Story debuted exclusively on the eShop, and later Limited Run Games was in charge of launching it in cartridge form.
