Time passes, and the game still hasn’t released version 1.0, but hope dies last. With a major event on the horizon, Cloud Imperium Games made a decision that hasn’t been well received by its workers.

Star Citizen developers won’t have rest for this reason
Labor exploitation has been a cancer in the video game industry, and the situation has escalated to the point where any change to workers conditions sparks controversy. This time, it’s Cloud Imperium Games turn, one of the companies responsible for Star Citizen, as its employees received an email from management informing them that they will work without rest in the upcoming weeks to present significant progress at the CitizenCon event, scheduled for October 19.
Following questions from the community and outlets like Insider-Gaming, Cloud Imperium responded with another statement to its employees, informing them that as a thank you for this period of continuous work, they will have October 21 off.
Star Citizen has been in development for over 10 years and has so far raised $726,320,906 USD. This money has been invested in developing a campaign, multiplayer mode, and the Star Engine, a graphics engine that makes this space adventure possible.
CitizenCon has become a key meeting point for the Star Citizen community and has evolved from being a progress presentation to a day where fans do cosplay, participate in various activities, shop for merchandise, and more.
