One of the franchises that defined the genre was Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, and this summer, remastered versions of the third and fourth entries will debut. Now that the IP has regained momentum, fans are asking for even more re-releases, especially one that’s widely considered among the greatest skateboarding games of all time. The good news? Tony Hawk wants it too.
The Legendary Skater Wants Underground to Return
In 2003, just when people thought the skateboarding formula had run its course, Tony Hawk’s Underground changed everything. Activision and Neversoft introduced a more personal, story-driven approach with player customization and a semi-open-world, and fans loved it.
The game quickly became a standout in the franchise, and now fans are eager for it to get the same treatment as the early entries. And it just might—Tony Hawk has said he’ll do everything he can to make it happen.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, the legendary skater said:
“I always have aspirations. It’s not up to me generally. I’ll campaign all I can, but I’m working with a much bigger company that’s a lot smarter than me.”
Bam Margera Confirmed for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4
One of the big questions for fans was whether Bam Margera would return. The pro skater from West Chester and Jackass star was a key part of the original games but hadn’t been confirmed for the remasters.
Fortunately, the official Tony Hawk account on X surprised everyone: Bam is back for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4. The post included an interview with the skater and footage from his motion and facial capture sessions.
Margera has faced legal and health struggles in recent years, but now appears to be in a more stable place and ready to celebrate the return of the franchise.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 launches on July 11 for PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, PC, and XBOX Game Pass Ultimate.
