The video game industry is no stranger to unfinished stories. Many projects are quietly cancelled before anyone knows they exist. One such project was a Blade Runner game, an ambitious title that, according to an exclusive report, was shut down and will not be rescued anytime soon.
Supermassive’s Blade Runner Game Scrapped
A report from Insider Gaming has revealed that Supermassive Games had been working on a Blade Runner game, titled Blade Runner: Time To Live. Unfortunately, the project was cancelled internally before it could be announced to the public, and fans of the franchise will never get to enjoy this title.
The game was slated for release in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with the possibility of being available on future consoles from Sony and Microsoft. Documents outlining details about the project reveal it had a budget of $45 million, with $9 million already allocated to motion capture and voice acting before it was scrapped.
Preproduction on the game began in September 2024, and prototype refinements were scheduled for March 2025.
While the exact reasons for the cancellation remain unknown, some details about the game’s concept and story have surfaced.

Blade Runner: Time To Live Promised Action
Supermassive Games, the studio behind interactive titles like Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology, and The Quarry, had big plans for this game. Unlike their previous projects, which relied on quick time events and decision-based gameplay, Blade Runner: Time To Live was designed to focus more on action.
The game would have followed So-Lange, a Nexus-6 model that somehow remains functional in the year 2065, and offered a combination of combat, stealth, exploration, investigation, and various forms of interaction with both characters and environments.
The premise was revealed in the following synopsis:
“Journey from the teeming undercity of New Zurich 2065 to the eerie remnants of the forgotten world beyond. Under orders to retire Rev, the mysterious and ruthless leader of an underground replicant network, you are betrayed and left for dead in a brutally hostile environment.”
