Redfall, the latest project from Arkane Austin, failed to captivate the audience and received very poor reviews from both specialized press and fans. Despite the poor reception, Bethesda still holds hope and believes that it will eventually become a good game.

During an interesting conversation with the GamesIndustry.biz media outlet, Pete Hines, Bethesdas Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications, reflected on the release of Starfield and other topics related to the company. At one point in the conversation, he discussed the lackluster debut of Redfall.

Bethesda Hopes Redfall Can Bounce Back Despite Poor Reception

Specifically, he was asked if the poor reception of the vampire-themed multiplayer FPS had prompted any internal changes within the company or exerted any pressure on Starfield.

"Were always in a learning process, so this isnt new to us. Were not happy when we dont meet our players expectations. At the same time, were the same company that had releases that didnt go the way we wanted them to, and we didnt just give up or abandon something just because it didnt start out well," Pete Hines affirmed.

The executive responsible for public relations and marketing recalled the cases of The Elder Scrolls: Online and Fallout 76, titles that debuted with many issues but managed to survive thanks to new content and improvements delivered through updates. He hopes that Arkanes latest project can also bounce back.

Redfall has less than 20 players on Steam

"Redfall is no different for us. Well, it didnt start the way we wanted, but its still a fun game… well still work on it. Were going to get it to 60 fps and make it a good game because we know that, as a first-party studio, Game Pass will always be there. There will be people 10 years from now joining Game Pass, and Redfall will be there," Pete Hines commented.

The multiplayer video game debuted in early May and quickly became one of the most controversial releases. In addition to receiving negative ratings, it had a poor start on Steam. Arkane released a patch that introduced notable improvements, but the promised 60 fps are still missing.

But tell us, do you think this title can make a comeback? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments.

Redfall is available for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass.
