Today there was bittersweet news for Final Fantasy fans on Xbox, as, while it was announced that a game nearly 10 years in the making will finally come to their consoles, the trilogy of remakes never will. But is it really confirmed that the last part wont come to Xbox or Nintendo?
After an interview with Naoki Yamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, The Washington Post reporter Gene Park asserted that the remake trilogy of Final Fantasy VII would be exclusive to PlayStation, something neither Square Enix nor Sony had mentioned since its announcement in 2016.
This hinted that its last part would also only come to PlayStation consoles.

Will the last part of the Final Fantasy VII remake be exclusive to PlayStation?
However, after this statement drew attention due to the circumstances mentioned, the author of the piece clarified that it was a mistake and that he actually meant that Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth would be the only exclusives.
"It was an error on my part to phrase it that way," Park expressed. "It has NOT been confirmed that the entire FFVII trilogy will be exclusive to Sony. The article has been modified to mention only Remake and Rebirth."

Either way, the article reveals that the first two installments would be exclusive to PlayStation, keeping alive the hope that the last part might surprisingly have versions for Xbox or Nintendo on consoles.
Although not confirmed, everything seems to indicate that the third installment would also not reach other consoles. Since the first two are exclusive, it wouldnt make much sense for only the last one to be released on Xbox or Nintendo systems if their users havent experienced the previous ones, as they share a narrative continuity.
