Xbox exclusive won more awards than those of PlayStation in this event

Xbox has earned the bad reputation of not being able to win the Game of the Year (GOTY) award throughout its history. While the curse continues, it just defeated its main rival, thanks to a game from one of its recent acquisitions.

We warned you a few weeks ago: Xbox managed to get more nominations in the 13th edition of the New York Game Awards compared to Nintendo and even its direct rival, PlayStation.

Well, the award ceremony has already concluded, and although none of the 3 companies managed to win the GOTY, exclusives from Xbox and Nintendo managed to take home at least 1 award each, while PlayStation won none.

What game won the GOTY at the New York Game Awards 2024?

As many predicted, Baldurs Gate 3 took home the GOTY, which also won the award for best narrative. The success of Larian Studios was not, however, the game with the most awards of the night, as it shared the distinction with Alan Wake 2, which received awards for the best world and best performance by Melanie Liburd as the protagonist of the game, Saga Anderson.

Nintendo won the award for the best game for children with Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Xbox managed to win an award for the music of Hi-Fi RUSH, developed by Tango Gameworks.

Xbox exclusives outperformed PlayStations at the New York Game Awards 2024

PlayStation, on the other hand, did not win in any category, but it cannot be said that Sonys network of studios left without any recognition, as Neil Druckmann, creative and president of Naughty Dog, was honored with an award for his career in the industry.

Below, you can see the complete list of winners of the 13th edition of the New York Game Awards.
