Xbox to overtake PlayStation with its new strategy, says Michael Pachter

Xbox decided to bring several of its exclusive titles to PlayStation and Nintendo. The decision divided the opinion of the community and some gamers the new strategy does not make much sense, as they believe Xbox consoles will lose strength and commercial appeal.
Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, thinks that this perspective is wrong, as he believes that Microsoft has a much more ambitious goal than Sony in the video game industry. For this reason, he thinks that the new strategy will work and that Xbox will surpass PlayStation in the future.
Pachter thinks Xbox is on track for success and will overtake PlayStation

From Michael Pachter's perspective, Microsoft's bet on Xbox Game Pass makes one thing clear: Xbox is a platform and not just hardware. For that reason, he thinks the tech giant has no problem with no more consoles in the future.
In this sense, he believes that its expansion to all possible devices is very important, because only in this way will it be able to attract many more players to its services and ecosystem. Pachter assured that Microsoft does not want to dominate the console market, but the industry in general.
"If Microsoft wanted to win the generation, they would win the generation. That is not what they're trying to do. They're trying to win the game's business by offering games to 3 billion people, not to 300 million people. That's their endgame.
"I think the gamer perception that they lost to Sony is just wrong. They lost in the console battle. If that's how you measure your worth, that you've got to sell more consoles or you suck, great. If the question is who's going to be more profitable, Microsoft, by 10x or 100x," the analyst said.
That said, Pachter believes that while Sony has the lead in console sales, Xbox and Microsoft can dominate the industry in the future by expanding their ecosystem with Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Cloud Gaming and other services.
