Donald Trump releases his very own trading card collection… as NFTs

Why?

Personally, the NFT and blockchain thing has been a disaster since day one but some people are still quite invested in it despite the fact that it has caused their eventual downfall.

In a new chapter of probably unnecessary NFT stuff, the far-right ex-president of the United States of America Donald Trump has released his very own collection of trading cards with him styled as a superhero… yeah, we are not making this out.

Wait… He said Christmas gift?!

Spotted by Kotaku, each NFT from the collection is selling for $99 and features him in different outfits. The release was accompanied by a teaser video that showed one of the non-fungible tokens with him as a 90’s styled superhero, laser beams and everything.

He was teasing this release for a while via his Truth Social account, calling it a “major announcement”, well, now we know it was just a collection of NFTs.

Thanks to Kotaku we get to read the official announcement that said the following;

“MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT! My official Donald Trump Digital Trading Card collection is here! These limited edition cards feature amazing ART of my Life & Career! Collect all of your favourite Trump Digital Trading Cards, very much like a baseball card, but hopefully much more exciting. Go to collecttrumpcards.com/ & GET YOUR CARDS NOW! Only $99 each! Would make a great Christmas gift. Don’t Wait. They will be gone, I believe, very quickly!”

It doesn’t end there

But hey! You are not spending $99 on just some digital card of Trump dressed as a cowboy, apparently, you could win the opportunity to meet Donald Trump over a Zoom call or a Miami dinner on an unspecified date.

Now, you may be wondering how this happened, well… The most logical explanation is that Trump needs to pay a $4,000 fine after his company impeded a grand jury investigation or the fact that he needs to fund his next presidential campaign, at this point everything is possible.

Do you think any other political figures are gonna try this move? Is NFT fever still alive? We always love to read your opinions in the comments below.
