Journalist says Microsoft is unhappy with Xbox for this reason

Jeff Grubb said the company is upset about its gaming division

Journalist Jeff Grubb is in the middle of controversy not only for his recent statements about Hi-Fi RUSH. Recently, he also claimed that Microsoft is not happy with Xbox and its performance in recent months. In his words, the tech giant is upset about the current state of its gaming division.

Microsoft is not satisfied with Xbox?

In the most recent edition of the Game Mess podcast (vía Insider Gaming), Grubb surprisingly stated that Microsoft is entirely satisfied with Xbox right now. The reason? The journalist recalled that 2022 was a complicated year for the brand and its gamers due to the lack of first-party releases.

He noted that despite this, fans of the brand had great third-party releases to enjoy, but suggested that this doesn't have Microsoft very happy in terms of the perception of the brand and its first-parties.

“I can tell you, they are not; they’re upset. We’re just trying to diagnose it a little bit, right? You know, they didn’t release a first-party game last year, and if that doesn’t affect you if you always have something to play again, that’s awesome, but a lot of people do regret getting their Xbox.” Grubb said.

The journalist stated this on the same podcast where he discussed Hi-Fi RUSH's alleged commercial stumble, something Xbox has since denied. So it's best to take the information with a grain of salt, as neither company has commented on the matter.

Xbox currently has some long-awaited releases on its hands and several of them will arrive in a matter of months. In addition, it is only a matter of time before it is reinforced with the purchase of Activision Blizzard, which will undoubtedly boost the Game Pass catalog quite a bit.
