The Super Mario Bros. Movie is a feast of references, so fans are rushing to the cinema to watch it again to catch all its amazing nods to the classic Nintendo world. Thanks to this, we now know that Nintendo replaced Donkey Kong in a part of the movie without anyone noticing.
