PlayStation studios have been very secretive lately about the projects they have in development, and one of them is SIE Santa Monica Studio. However, a clue has just emerged suggesting that the revelation of their next project might be near.
The California-based developer is well-known for God of War. Following the release of the latest installment in the franchise, God of War Ragnarök, they have not announced their next project, but it appears it may not be a new adventure for Kratos.
Did PlayStation just register the new IP from SIE Santa Monica Studio?
We say this because the registration for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has just come to light. The entity responsible for the registration was specifically Sony Interactive Entertainment, which also owns other PlayStation IPs, suggesting that this is a new exclusive franchise.
The registration was made on February 12th, as noted by Gematsu, and all that is known is that it falls under the category of goods and services, specifically software and video games. Therefore, we can assume it is a new IP from PlayStation Studios.
However, information is scarce; in fact, even the design of the logo is unknown, so we will have to wait to see if and when PlayStation announces this new franchise.
Nevertheless, there is speculation that this title might be the new IP from SIE Santa Monica Studio, led by Cory Barlog, which is why he wasn't the director of God of War Ragnarök.
What's interesting is that this possibility aligns with the space and science fiction theme that this new franchise might have. In case you didn't know, during the development of God of War, SIE Santa Monica was also working on a space game at the time called Int-7 or Internal 7, but unfortunately, it was suspended or canceled after a crisis, and it is believed that this new franchise led by Cory Barlog would have the foundations of Internal 7.
