The Controversial Remake of Silent Hill 2 Could Be Very Close

Konami and Bloober Team's video game receives its first age rating

In addition to presenting a deep and dark story full of nuances that lead to discussions about morality and human suffering, Silent Hill 2 features a believable world where nightmares come to life in the form of terrifying monsters. In short, it is one of the best horror games in history.

With this in mind, many fans raised an eyebrow when Konami announced that the 2001 classic will return with a remake in development by Bloober Team. Although we recently saw a trailer that revealed action elements, the release date is a mystery. Fortunately, it seems that this will change soon.

Recently, the controversial remake of Silent Hill 2 was classified in South Korea by the Game Rating and Administration Committee of that country. As expected, it will be inappropriate for young people due to its "excessive violence" and horror elements.

Konami could share the release date of Silent Hill 2 Remake

According to the website of the South Korean regulatory body, the classification request for the single-player video game was submitted on February 29 and was granted until March 7, 2024. These are good news as it seems that its official release is approaching.

Typically, games receive age ratings when they are relatively close to their debut. For example, the regulatory body leaked the existence of a remaster of Red Dead Redemption before its official release, while last year it revealed that Bandai Namco planned to announce the release date of TEKKEN 8.

The presence of Silent Hill 2 in the South Korean classification committee's database suggests that at least Konami plans to reveal the release date soon.

Earlier this year, Motoi Okamoto, producer of the horror saga, revealed that the remake is almost complete and has entered the final stage of development. Similarly, a PlayStation preview set the release date for sometime in 2024. Anyway, we recommend being patient and waiting for an announcement from the responsible parties.

After months of silence and no news, Silent Hill 2 Remake was the protagonist of the first State of Play of the year; however, the trailer disappointed fans, who expressed their rejection of the apparent focus on action. After the wave of criticism, Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, admitted that he also didn't like the trailer and blamed Konami.

But tell us, when do you think this new version of the classic horror game will debut? Let us hear from you in the comments.
