A fan-made Max Payne 2 remake made with Unreal Engine 5 looks incredible
By Frida Salazar onLucky us, Rockstar is already working on a re-release

Remember Max Payne? If you are extremely young there is a chance you don’t or maybe you do… the latest installment was released in 2013. This cult-classic conquered the hearts of thousands of fans around the world, back then its success and recognition allowed it to have a sequel, which also received praise from the community. Now, can you imagine what the second installment would look like with today's graphics?
A week ago, TeaserPlay a YouTube channel known for their fan-made video game concept trailers surprised the community with a new video that gave us a glimpse of what a remake of Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne would look like. The interesting part? It was made with Unreal Engine 5, the latest version of Epic Games' versatile graphics engine.
An outstanding job
The video is outstanding in many aspects, but to be fair the most striking of the set are the lighting effects and particles, as they impressively adorn the city streets and buildings. Of course, a fan-made project is not 100% perfect as in this particular case character animations are very stiff, however, the final result is worthy of admiration.
We will leave the video below:
But wait! We will get a remake!
Actually, a re-release of Max Payne is in the works. At the beginning of April, Remedy Entertainment surprised the community when it announced that it is working together with Rockstar Games to develop remakes of Max Payne and May Payne 2. The new versions will be built with the Northlight Engine, the same graphics engine used in titles such as Quantum Break and Control. So yeah, we just need to be patient.
