Without a doubt, 2023 is one of the best years in recent gaming history. The first half was filled with great games and Game of the Year candidates. Fortunately, the good streak continues. This time, one of the august releases made a powerful impact and immediately became a favorite among players.
Were talking about none other than Baldurs Gate 3, the ambitious RPG developed by Larian Studios. Since its release on August 3rd, it has achieved great success. In addition to its impressive performance on Steam with thousands of simultaneous players, it has won the hearts of fans and specialized critics.
BALDURS GATE 3 Could MAKE HISTORY
The RPG made a strong debut and received a warm welcome from the community on Valves platform. Similarly, its early reviews on Metacritic were extremely positive, allowing it to surpass The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as the best-rated game of this year.
Now, Baldurs Gate 3 continues its winning streak and has already made history. Now, its at the top of the list of the highest-rated video games of all time on Metacritic with an outstanding score of 97.
Surprisingly, the game holds the same rating on the OpenCritic site, positioning itself at the pinnacle and becoming one of only 2 games with a score of 97. The second is Super Mario Odyssey, which takes the silver position. To provide more context, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom all have scores of 96.
Its important to clarify this information. While Baldurs Gate 3 has conquered both lists, it still has few reviews compared to other games. On Metacritic, it has only 26 reviews, while on OpenCritic it has 42. Therefore, it will be interesting to see if its scores increase or decrease in the coming weeks as more websites provide ratings.
That being said, its clear that the role-playing game developed by Larian Studios is one of the biggest surprises of the year and a strong contender for the GOTY.
